1. Introduction

Vet Talent Collective ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles ("APPs"). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it and how you can exercise your rights.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Platform, we may collect:

  • account details (name, email, role, password hash);
  • employer profile content (organisation name, locations, media, branding);
  • job listing content submitted by employers;
  • candidate activity (saved jobs, follows, job alert criteria);
  • payment metadata from our payment processor (we do not store card numbers);
  • technical data (IP address, device, browser) and usage analytics.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • operate the Platform and provide account features;
  • publish employer profiles and job listings;
  • generate hiring-history insights;
  • send transactional messages and consented job alerts;
  • moderate content and investigate reports;
  • improve, secure and troubleshoot the Platform;
  • comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal bases & APP alignment

We handle personal information consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles, including APP 1 (open and transparent management), APP 3 (collection), APP 5 (notification), APP 6 (use and disclosure), APP 11 (security) and APP 12 (access & correction). Where required, we obtain your consent before collection or use.

5. Job alerts & email — Spam Act

Marketing and job-alert emails are sent only where you have opted in. Consistent with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth), every such email identifies the sender, provides accurate contact information and includes a working unsubscribe link. You can also manage alert subscriptions from your candidate dashboard.

6. Sharing with third parties

We share limited personal information with service providers who help us operate the Platform, including:

  • our payment processor (Stripe) for card payments;
  • our hosting and database provider for storing Platform data;
  • our transactional email provider for account and alert emails.

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect the safety, rights or property of any person.

7. Cookies & analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember preferences, and privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the Platform is used. You can control cookies via your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may affect functionality.

8. Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy or as required by law. Job listings and hiring-history data may be retained after a listing's visibility period to support the Platform's employer transparency features.

9. Access, correction & removal

You can request access to, or correction of, your personal information at any time by emailing admin@vettalentco.com.au. Removal requests will be actioned where permitted by law and consistent with our moderation and record-keeping obligations.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards including encryption in transit, access controls and row-level security on user data. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

11. Overseas data transfers

Some of our service providers process data outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles personal information in a manner consistent with the APPs.

12. Children

The Platform is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or a prominent notice on the Platform.

14. Contact & complaints

Contact us at admin@vettalentco.com.au. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
